U.S. To Cancel Afghanistan’s Debt

The U.S. Department of State announced today that the United States intends to cancel the debt owed it by Afghanistan. The $108 million debt cancellation is subject to domestic legal requirements the State department said.

State Department spokesman Sean McCormack explained that the debts are from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, and were mainly for agricultural projects.
