Jillian Bandes Holding Rally To Denounce UNC Terrorist Attack

Former Daily Tar Heel columnist Jillian Bandes and Student Congress Rep. Kris Wampler will hold a rally at UNC monday to condemn Friday’s attack and to protest the news media’s reluctance to label it “terrorism”:

The Daily Tar Heel—”UNC students will rally against the act and protest the news media’s reluctance to label it terrorism,” the release states.

The rally will take place in the Pit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students will hold signs and hand out small American flags. Speakers are scheduled from noon to 12:30. The event is open to the public.

“The protest will condemn religious violence, call on UNC administrators to denounce Mohammad Taheri-azar and call on they and the news media to refer to the event as an act of terrorism,” the release states. …

The rally will be held in the “pit” where the attack occurred.
