International Kids Fund Launches PSA To Raise Awareness Of Critically Ill Children

International Kids Fund (IKF) launched a public service announcement (PSA) campaign Wednesday designed to mobilize local, national, and international awareness and raise funds for critically ill children.

IKF’s most recent success story is Marlie Casseus. IKF helped raise funds that gave her two life-changing surgeries. Without the surgeries, the 16 pound facial tumor that plagued Marlie would have eventually killed her. To date, IKF has provided assistance to hundreds of children from 22 countries, primarily from Latin America and the Caribbean, a region with strong ties to South Florida. All IKF-sponsored children receive treatment at Holtz Children’s Hospital, located at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami, one of the top pediatric clinical research centers in the United States. Daniella Mohammed is the youngest child to benefit from the program. At just 1-month-old, she was brought to Holtz in 2004 for a successful balloon valvuloplasty, a corrective, non-invasive heart procedure not available in her home country, Trinidad and Tobago.
