Hurricane Katrina: Suspects Charged In Deaths Of Hospital Patients
A doctor and two nurses have been charged with second-degree murder in the deaths of patients at New Orleans Memorial Medical Center during the Hurricane Katrina disaster:
The one Dr. and two nurses have now been identified as Dr. Anna Pou and nurses Lori L. Budo and Cheri Landry.
Update (7/18/2006 3:15pm):
Louisiana Attorney General Charles Foti is speaking now about the arrests made yesterday. He has said that the patients were given “lethal cocktails” and “lethal injections.” And the patients were not patients of Dr. Pou nor were the two nurses assigned to the patients in question AG Foti said.
AG Foti is passionately repeating that this isn’t “euthanasia” but “homicide.”
More arrests and more charges coming he said. He also said one of the patients said “it burns” as he was given the lethal injection.
More later.
