US Troops Would Have Fought Iranian Attackers
The Independent is quoting Lt-Cdr Erik Horner, U.S. Navy, as saying that “his men would have fired on the Iranian Republican Guard rather than let themselves be taken hostage.”
Is it really fair to question the bravery and aggressiveness of British Sailors and Marines? I’m certain they are some of the most skilled and aggressive warriors the world has. Those guys were surrounded by six attack boats with mounted machine guns. I am just assuming when I say this, but I doubt they were as well armed. Where was HMS Cornwall? I again assume it wasn’t very far away and could have made quick work of those attack boats. Don’t question their bravery or aggressiveness, question the rules that may have hamstrung British forces and prevented their rescue.
Now we’re left with 15 British troops and no one knows their whereabouts. No doubt, they’ll be tried in a Kangaroo Court with Britain being made a fool of. And who knows, if the moment comes for military action to get them back, it’ll be far worse than HMS Cornwall putting some stupid little patrol boats on the bottom of the Shatt al-Arab waterway.
Pray for the safe release of those brave men and women. God bless them all.

I didn’t think he was questioning their bravery or aggressiveness as much as he was questioning the Rules of Engagement under which they are forced to work.
The British are known for their bravery and their ability to produce disciplined warriors. Apparently, their rules of engagement prevent them from defending themselves in these types of situations.
