Yesterday, I put up a copy of General Omar N. Bradley’s address given on Armistice Day, 10 November 1948. I believed that what General Bradley said in 1948 had crucial application for our time. I asked LTC Allen B. West, U.S. Army (Ret.) for his thoughts on the address. West said:

“There was a time when America had men and leaders, then came special interest and quest for power. Duty, honor, courage, commitment, integrity, sacrifice, selfless service…….all suffered and what we now have left are petty usurpers, not patriotic Americans, strong communicators.

“When you look at the cast of characters the Democratic party has put forth to “lead” our nation, when you think of the inability of GW Bush to exploit the window of opportunity for greatness he was given, when you look at persons like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, all you can say is “thank God” these people were not there during critical times in our American history.

“Then you realize how critical a time we are now in, and that these people, and the character traits which they represent, must not be in positions of influence in America….not now. Visionary leadership requires one to look beyond the next election cycle. It is about our grandchildren and the legacy we leave them.”
