Carolina Ghost Tales: A Haunted House

This story takes place in our time and I’m told it’s true.

A Haunted House

A mother and her son had moved into an old house. As time went by, they began to fear it was haunted. The son told her that sometimes a cold breeze would come out of his closet. He was terrified staying in that room and would always sleep with a blanket over his head. The worst scare came one day when the mother was going downstairs. She had just stepped onto a small landing at the top of the stairs when something hit her from behind; she nearly lost her balance and fell.

Sometime later, she was talking with the lady next door. She told her of the strange things going on inside the house. The lady told her that indeed there was something up there. She revealed that her husband had been brutally beaten up there and had later died at the hospital. She told the mother to buy a white candle and wait. If it comes back, light the candle and tell it to leave you alone! That’s what she did and the family had no further hauntings.
