Wilmington NC Beaches Local Shops A Must See
We visited Wilmington, NC Friday to show my child the USS North Carolina battleship and to play at the beach.
The tour of the USS North Carolina was great, but I was saddened to see the old ship in need of so many repairs. Work was going on at the time, but still…I guess the memorial just doesn’t have enough funds to do everything that is needed.
Afterwards, we tried to take a river tour of the Cape Fear aboard the Henrietta III. I say tried because the tour was cancelled, not enough people to take the boat out. Total let down. Oh well.
While waiting for the tour that never took place, we ate at the Dock Street Oyster Bar.
Wow! The food was totally awesome. Dock Street Oyster bar is a small shop on Dock Street, but friendliess, courtesy, fast service and good food are BIG there.
I ordered Seafood Delight; it lived up to its name and more. Shrimp, sea scallops, and calamari were smoothered in a lemon creme sauce atop Fettuccine noodles. Man, that stuff was good to the last drop!
We also had oysters on the half-shell; they were incredible as well.
If you find yourself anywhere near Front St. and Dock St., stop in at Dock Street Oyster Bar for a wonderful dining experience.
Later we drove over to Wrightsville beach and let our child play in the emerald waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The air was so fresh and clean, the waters so beautiful. I just sat on the beach and drank it all in.
Yes, it’s April, but the water is warming up. Still a little cool, but it feels great after being in for a few moments. My kid loved it!
Right now, the large tourist crowds are not there, so If you’re wanting to go to Wilmington, go now!
