Can’t Someone Else Do it?

Pardon me, but I was watching Homer Simpson on TV and he said something that ‘rang a bell’ for me.

Homer said “Can’t someone else do it?” When you take what Sen. John Kerry has said and read between the lines, you begin to see that the previous quote fits his ‘war on terror’ stance perfectly.

Can’t someone else do it? Who would have taken Saddam down? Who would have begun a fledgling democracy in Iraq…the United Nations? Europe? Ha! Don’t hold your breath.

Can’t someone else do it? Who would have taken the Taliban down? Who would have begun a fledgling democracy in Afghanistan…The United Nations? Europe? Again, ha! Don’t hold your breath.

We have seen it time and again that the United States and Britain must be the first to take decisive action. Being a world leader means you do not back down from a difficult task, a task that means going it alone or with few allies. The world may not back you, but they know that in the end they will be the beneficiaries of our unflinching resolve.

Once again, it is the ‘doers’ not the hand-wringers that are making it happen and for the better…
