Nothing really new to report today except that the Aruban government has finally called upon civil servants and tourists to join in the search for Natalee. Shouldn’t they have done this earlier?

Jim commented this morning about Venezuela and ‘White Slavery’ which is very interesting because the U.S. Department of State classifies Venezuela as a ‘Tier 3’ state in its 2005 ‘Trafficking In Persons’ report. The report says that Venezuela is a “source, transit, and destination country for women and children trafficked for the purposes of sexual exploitation and forced labor.” Venezuela is classified as ‘Tier 3’ because it does not comply with minimum standards to eliminate trafficking and is not making significant efforts to do so.

I find it hard to swallow that Aruban authorities know absolutely nothing about what happened to Natalee Holloway. Does this smell like cover-up or complete incompetence?

Found out today through Scared Monkeys about a dead man whose partially decapitated body was found Saturday. The man was later identified as Sergio Gomez. Authorities say this case has nothing to do with Natalee Holloway’s case but some wonder if it’s a warning to the guys in jail:
Over at Riehl World View, there’re talking about the possibly that Natalee’s body was dumped into the ocean on Aruba’s northern side that is infested with sharks.

Natalee’s family will be filing a lawsuit demanding authorities allow them to see evidence collected so far. The lawsuit is being discussed over at Scared Monkeys. Posters there believe it’s a waste of time right now with the investigation still underway, evidence may be released in three months they say.

Just spoke with Texas EquuSearch. They have three people on the ground in Aruba now, 17-20 volunteers are expected to land in Aruba around 7:30pm. Dogs being flown in with the volunteers will give them a total of three dogs assisting in the search.

The Aruban government today called upon the Netherlands to show official support for the island. The Aruban government is struggling to save its image in the minds of American tourists.
Prime Minister Nelson Oduber filed a formal request with the Dutch government today requesting a new contingent of Marines to assist in the search for Natalee Holloway.

Dateline Alabama says Rosa Palmer (a North Carolina resident) was questioned by the FBI after making claims to a man that Natalee died after falling and hitting her head on a rock. She denied the claim. Her son attended the International School in Aruba with Joran Van Der Sloot and she believes school officials know more than they are saying.
USA Today says the Alabama House of Representatives has passed a resolution calling for a boycott of Aruba.

No good news to report about Natalee Holloway. Joran Van Der Sloot was released from prison and has flown to Amsterdam. Prime Minister Nelson Odouber vows to continue the investigation.
Natalee’s family will certainly never give up the fight to find out what happened to her, but it looks hopeless at this juncture. With the prime suspects released, one of which has now fled the country, this case will go cold and be swept under Aruba’s rug so to speak…

The man apparently is closely acquainted with Joran Van Der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers MSNBC says this morning. And they believe he has information about the death and disposal of Natalee Holloway.
MSNBC identified the man as 20-year-old Godfried van Cromvoirt.

According to documentation provided by Peter R. DeVries on his website, Joran and Natalee were having sex on the beach when she began having convulsions and died. With the help of a friend named Daury, they dumped her body at sea.

Dutch authorities are testing a jawbone with a partially intact molar that was found on a beach in Aruba. It is believed the jaw bone might belong to Natalee Holloway.
I’ve refrained from posting this update for a few days since so much new information has turned into nothing but disappointment.
We should know soon if the remains are that of Natalee Holloway.
Natalie’s dad is in Aruba following up on another lead.
