Maria Parra Loses Congressional Bid
Maria Parra has lost out on her bid to unseat incumbent Mark Souder. Some of you may remember Maria Parra as the Indiana congressional candidate that walked out of the 3rd districts only debate.
With 100 percent of precincts reporting, here is where the race stands:
Mark Souder: 69%
Maria Parra: 31%
I thought it would be interesting to see how the walk out episode affected her campaign.
Update: (11/4/2004 10:42 am)
I asked Maria Parra yesterday how the debate walkout affected her campaign, she said “Initially I thought it was going to have a very negative impact but I ended up with about the same results of other democratic candidates around the state.” She went on to say that as painful as the debate debacle was, it gained her “name recognition.”
Maria said that she plans to remain in politics, because she enjoyed meeting and speaking to Hoosiers around the 3rd district and finding common ground.
Best wishes Ms. Parra.
