Singer Ashlee Simpson Tries Again

Ashlee Simpson is supposed to ‘sing’ again at the Radio Music Awards Monday night after her Fiasco on SNL.

Lip sync is lip sync and millie is millie, you either have a beautiful voice or you don’t.

Prove it to your fans Ash’, sing with no accompaniment Monday night. Let’s hear it Ashlee.

Update: (10/25/2004 07:24pm)

Now Ashlee’s Dad is blaming the whole fiasco on Acid Reflux Disease. I’ve got to remember that one, it could come in handy one day.

UN Doesn’t Want Part In Saddam Trial

The United Nations has apparently turned down a United States request for help with Saddam Hussein’s trial:

NDTV.com—The UN has turned down America’s request for legal aid in the Saddam trial.

America had asked for help to assist Iraqi judges and prosecutors who are trying the ousted President Saddam Hussein.

The United Nations apparently doesn’t want to dirty its hands with a trial where the defendant [Saddam Hussein] might receive the death penalty. The United Nations stood firm upon its moral foundations and refused to help dispense justice where the defendant might receive the death penalty.

The United Nations will not participate in a trial where the death penalty is an option, but on the other hand it has no qualms dealing with brutal dictators that murder its own citizens. Ask the dead and dying in Sudan about the truth in that statement. The United Nations’ hypocrisy is so deep that hip boots will not get you through it.

What did I expect from them anyway?

US: Senior Zarqawi Member Captured

This just in:

ABCNEWS ONLINE—The United States military says it has captured a top member of the Islamic militant group led by Jordanian-born Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

It says the man and five other rebels were caught during a pre-dawn raid in the city of Fallujah.

“Due to a surge in the number of Zarqawi associates who have been captured or killed by multinational strikes and other operations, the member had moved up to take a critical position as a Zarqawi senior leader,” the military said in a statement.

The noose tightens…

OpinionBug Site Outage

Friday, October 22nd, my webhost was the subject of a massive denial of service (DoS) attack. The attack continued for several hours until AT&T was able to effectively thwart the attack.

I apologize for the outage. I have been assured by my webhost that more effective measures are being developed to deal with any further attacks.

Thank you.

Poll: Europe Backs Kerry

A poll released today and detailed by Guardian Unlimited revealed what most Americans already suspect: Europe wants John Kerry and in a bad way.

Of the ten countries polled, only Russia and Israel backed United States President George W. Bush.

Guardian Unlimited—These findings – likely to achieve a high degree of exposure because they are media-driven – confirm previous polls in underlining the degree of global hostility to President Bush and the Iraq war.

Since September 11th, 2001 the United States has licked a lot less boots and has pursued an aggressive policy of striking terrorists ‘over there’ before they can hurt us ‘over here.’

I believe the new found confidence the United States demonstrated ‘alarmed’ quite a few people, especially in Europe.

The United States cannot cower in fear of what Europe or anyone else thinks of it. The United States must protect its own, even when the cultural elite of Europe disagree.

The rift between Europe and the United States has much to do with the fact that people simply cannot tolerate those with an opinion that differs from their own.

What can be done to improve the international view of America? I do not believe there is a way, at least not one that is acceptable to the average American.

O’Reilly In The Corner

Bill O’Reilly of “The O’Reilly Factor” has been sued by Andrea Mackris who says the commentator had phone sex with her against her wishes three times.

Bill O’Reilly has countersued Andrea Mackris saying Morelli (Mackris’ Attorney) demanded $60 million in “hush money” to not file the lawsuit.

FOXNEWS—O’Reilly’s lawyer, Ronald Green, said he believes there are tapes of conversations between the two and asked a court to compel Mackris to produce them so they could be played publicly.

“I know that he does not fear what is on the tapes,” Green said.

The timing of Mackris’ lawsuit (three weeks before the election) is odd, but I’ll not question the validity of her case based on what may be a ‘coincidence.’

My time in the corporate world taught me many things, one of them being “keep your social life separate from your job.” I never had to watch the ‘Soaps’ very much, because I could watch them ‘live’ at work.

Countless times men and women would engage in sexual innuendo and joke telling. I could never tell where they drew the line between fun and offense, one wrong move and ‘boom!’

I’m not saying that is what happened between Bill O’Reilly and Andrea Mackris; I’m just saying it is plausible.

Major Action In Iraq Underway

DEBKA is reporting that U.S. and Iraqi military forces are poised for major assaults:

DEBKAfile—military sources report: Large-scale US and Iraqi forces poised on battle readiness in offensive array around four Sunni Triangle hotbeds: Fallujah, Ramadi, Latafiya and Balad, awaiting order to launch major assaults.

Prime Minister Ayad Allawi is demanding that terror mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi be turned over to Iraqi authorities. So far, Fallujah representatives have shown no willingness to do so and have suspended peace talks with the government.

CNN—Two infantry battalions — one from the Marines and one from the Army — were participating “in and near the city” along with Iraqi special forces, he said. Marine attack jets and helicopters were providing close air support and troop transport.

U.S. and Iraqi patience has worn thin and the final push to remove the rebels and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi may be underway at this time.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi’s terrorists have brought nothing but pain and suffering to Iraq, and it is about time that the United States and Iraq mounted a major offensive to remove him once and for all.

Peace is coming to Iraq, be assured of that. Iraq will become the envy of the Middle East and country by country Zarqawi’s cohorts will fall.

When peace comes, I pray that everyone will remember that it was President George W. Bush’s vision of a free and peaceful Iraq that made it possible.

In closing, I salute the men and women of the ‘grand coalition’ that have fought so hard and given so much. It is your “blood, sweat, and tears” that the free-world will honor.

Norway Dabbles In U.S. Politics

In Noway Norway, a group called www.tellhim.no has funded an ad in the Washington Post to tell President Bush off. View the ad here

The group opposes the war in Iraq and believes the U.S. should apologize to the Iraqi people, compensate them, and bring in the UN.

I count myself among those who are tired of people decrying the U.S. “War on Terror.” What is everyone supposed to do, rollover and play ‘dead?’ Oh yeah, a lot of people would be happy with that apparently.

Maybe we should call in that pitiful body called the “United Nations” which has never ‘united’ anything.

The United States and its coalition members in Iraq are the ‘doers’ that have taken a firm stand on terror and agreed to do something about it; Everyone else is apparently sitting at home wringing their hands…

There is an old saying that goes “if you are not part of the process, then you are part of the problem.” Sitting at home wringing your hands does not make you part of the process…

If you happen to be ‘wringing’ your hands over this issue then just ‘relax’, sit back and sip a toddy. The doers are out there working to bring about a solution that will benefit everyone, even the naysayers.

U.S. Values A Threat?

IHT—The French president warned that the world’s different cultures could be “choked” by U.S. values.

Read the International Herald Tribune story

Perhaps President Jacques Chirac of France is actually ‘lamenting’ the loss of his own country’s heritage. Europe as a whole is facing the same threat, but it has nothing to do with the United States, and everything to do with immigration and a declining native population.
