I just heard about a recent gang incident in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The report is second-hand so I don’t know the gang names or why they met.

Late in the evening, patrons at a Rocky Mount restaurant were sent scurrying for their lives when it quickly filled with about 200 gang members. It seems two rival gangs, one from Rocky Mount and one from neighboring Wilson, had chosen the restaurant as a meeting point.

It appears that everyone showed up quite quickly, so I’m curious to know if Twitter or another social network was used to coordinate the meet.

No other information about the incident is available. If anyone has more details, I’d be glad to update the story.

Just to clarify: as far as I know, no violence was involved.

Cesar Millan announced the death of “Daddy” the pitbull today.

Cesar says Daddy died peacefully Friday, February 19th, surrounded by family. You can express your sympathy by visiting Daddy’s memorial page.

Daddy was a favorite on the Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan. We all loved seeing Daddy strut about, bringing stability to many an unstable situation.

Captain Phil Harris died of a massive stroke his family says.

Phil’s sons, Jake and Josh, released this statement:

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad – Captain Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end. For us and the crew, he was someone who never backed down. We will remember and celebrate that strength. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

The Cornelia Marie crew issued this statement:

It is with tremendous sadness that I say goodbye to Phil Harris. Phil and I have been business partners and friends for nearly 20 years. We have been through a lot of ups and downs together with the F/V Cornelia Marie. As a skipper, he was a great fisherman. He loved his family and cared for his crew. We will all miss him.

The Discovery Channel says Phil was “more than someone on our television screen.” He was a “devoted father and loyal friend to all who knew him.” “We send our thoughts and prayers to Phil’s sons Josh and Jake and the Cornelia Marie crew,” it said.

Phil was an incredible man. He will be deeply missed. We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

Phil Harris was 53.

Oh yeah, I just had to watch that ABC report detailing the abuse of dairy cows.

I did all that this morning, then sat down to a bowl of Kellogg’s chocolate Little Bites. Man, I felt sick to the stomach. There’s just no sense abusing animals like those guys were doing; no sense at all.

I’ve always loved milk, loved downing a tall glass of it, but now, I just don’t know….

The snow is really coming down now in Raleigh-Durham, laying a fine gown of white upon the landscape.

Actor Scott Baio posted a photograph of First Lady Michelle Obama recently that earned him a death threat.

After posting the photograph, a twitter user issued these threats:

Baio is working with the FBI to determine who issued the death threat.

Yellowstone National Park is in the midst of an earthquake swarm that began Sunday night. A USGS researcher says the swarms are normal.

Yellowstone sits atop an active super-volcano. A full-scale eruption would be devastating for the United States and the world. Discovery Channel has a nice interactive site about it.

I’ve been watching earthquake alerts and Yellowstone has had magnitude 2’s and 3’s coming in all day.

WND says sources have told it that the United States has assumed control of earthquake devastated Haiti.
