A major 7.8 magnitude earthquake has struck Indonesia. The earthquake was centered at 2.236°N, 97.046°E in the Banyak Islands. The hypocentral depth of the earthquake was 28.6 miles.
A magnitude 7.9 earthqauke has rocked Sumatra, Indonesia. The earthquake was centered at 0.797°S, 99.925°E which is about 30 miles from Padang. Its hypocentral depth was set at 52.8 miles. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) has issued a tsunami watch for Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and India.

Indonesia continues to reel under the onslaught of major earthquakes striking Papua New Guinea. A 7.3 magnitude earthquake occurred about three hours ago. Early this morning Indonesia time, a 7.6 magnitude hit Papua New Guinea with aftershocks continuing through the morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Indonesia.

AFP is reporting that Philippine troops have captured a senior Abu Sayyaf terrorist known as Tuatin Anahaly. Anahaly was arrested in connection with the kidnapping of Martin Burnham, Gracia Burnham, Ediborah Yap, Guillermo Sobero, and a group of Filipinos from Dos Palmas resort in Palawan back in 2001.
