WDSU has been doing an excellent job keeping the public informed. They have done an even better job since Hurricane Katrina struck when you consider that their operations were crippled by the storm. Good job folks. Best wishes to you and all the suffering people on the United States Gulf Coast.

WDSU says there have been more than 700 rooftop rescues in New Orleans. WDSU: Mayor Ray Nagin says a tanker has partially sunk and is leaking. No further information at this time.
WDSU reports that Martial Law has been declared in New Orleans. Military rule is now in effect. Civil authorities are unable to maintain order. Update (8/30/2005 11:55am): On a related note, WDSU says “looting is out of control.”
WDSU reports that evacuee’s say conditions are “miserable” inside the SuperDome. There is no electricity, bathrooms are filthy and trash bins are overflowing. Some people have tried to leave the SuperDome and return back to their homes but the National Guard is not allowing that because conditions are simply unsafe they say.
WDSU is reporting that at least 80 people have died, many of them in Harrison County, Mississippi. Update (8/30/2005 9:17am): WDSU reports that New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin says bodies have been seen floating in the flood waters of New Orleans. No casualty count yet.
A critical levee on Lake Pontchartrain has been breached. Eighty percent of New Orleans is under 20 feet of water. New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin says New Orleans is devastated.
