Magnitude 6.9 Earthquake Stuns Chile
With Chilean nerves still in tatters from last month’s devastating earthquake, a strong 6.9 magnitude rocked Libertador O’Higgins this morning. The earthquake was situated at 34.251°S, 71.889°W, about 90 miles from Santiago. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center released a statement saying “No destructive widespread tsunami threat exists based on historical earthquake and tsunami data.”
